Jailed for reporting truth, Nedim Türfent turned to poetry to resist isolation. His voice speaks for all who fight for democracy, dignity, and the freedom to speak without fear.
Agreed. It is basic common sense what Nedim's poetry said.
I could not have written it.
Humans are not by nature, democratic.
Aristotle = Hierarchies + pro slavery
Confucianism = Filial Piety
Marxism = hierarchy & subordination
Democracy, at least in 2025, requires Human Rights. If China or Russia want to give you easy money, that is a more easier, solvent solution than the messy guck of democracy and loving strangers. America, through all of its sins, does a hell of a job at unity. Is it from the Declaration or Constitution? No one reads those documents. Is it from the bulwark of Abraham Lincoln?
What churns the Idea of America? Coming into form after 9/11 makes this hard. Millennials and Gen Z almost live in an entirely different version of America than their predecessors. Trying to reverse your mind back in history hits the 1980s and then stops. Back then is not real anymore and requires serious scholarship.
It seems like what unified America was successful wars plus a resource rich land. Even if say, Reconstruction was something I am an expert on, our culture + politicians I have never heard any meaningful discussion of history so we are all idiots now??? I know history, I have just not conversed it with too many people and mainstream institutions are deprived of it.
So what churns the Idea of America is nothing glamorous, rather, more land + more capital & resources throw in a Constitution and Declaration that very few people actually read and we make it by. My generation and younger still have not form a historical-political identity.
In a "democracy" metaphor, there still exists war, but
the essence of democracy is not "helping each other"
but the essence of democracy is liberty which, need be defended, but more importantly, enjoyed.
The "war" metaphor of life makes 100% sense but they don't know how to party or eliminate interstitial violence -- or the gaps between control and violence. That is why I am such a big feminist and female advocate.
This is so inspiring to a loner like me who aspires to be a military historian and write about peace, war, democracy.
Nedim Turfent, I don't think I am going to forget this episode. Sometimes I feel like I am talking or writing to myself. I have had bad days, but, ya ya "my life could always be worse."
--But Nedim Turfent is making me feel like neurogenesis is going on.
"Poetry is not political."

This poetry is expression of injustice.
How could someone like Erdogan not care or feel or acknowledge poetry and injustice like Nedim???
Why do "idiots" like me "think their sold" on Nedim 100% until they "hear is poetry" and then revved up another 10%!!!???
Nedim has "Jeremi Suri energy."
What do India and Turkey have in common? Good food.
I am not happy with the Romans' loss in 1453, but... India I actually know little about their history...
I am appalled Turkey has turned into this latrine of a country.
The episode proves everyone is a part of history.
All life matters. We are all wired and connected together. Life should be led and struggled to the last breath.
A "war" metaphor of life works... But I prefer a "democracy" metaphor.

This sound odd. I hope I am being polite.
But, I kind of needed Nedim Turfent!!!
This is one hell of a brain-energy supplemental boost!!! Haha!!!
I'm ready to go into battle! Take on Hector! Take on Achilles!!!
Aristeia!!!
This is so powerful.
I do not know why but my brain is bringing up Francis Scott Key and the Magna Carta.
"Moral Conscious of world"
"Freedom of speech"
Freedom of press"
Nedim has more pelts than Dr. Suri!
